Your Story Matters

The numbers of women in STEM who have been sexually harassed, assaulted and retaliated against are staggering. But once we read these numbers, share them with our friends and hurt, national attention moves on and nothing changes.Screen Shot 2018-05-28 at 6.19.34 PM

The goal of this site is to make it harder for people in power, scientific societies, colleagues and the trainees to see us as more than numbers during this critical period for women in STEM.

What Do We Need: Your stories. I’m sorry I have to ask for more from you. You’ve suffered too much and done too much already. But this matters.

Answer a few questions or send this information to a friend who might be able to share their story. Share a picture if you can. Or anonymize yourself as one blogger did. See “My Name is Sam” for an example.

When you see stories of #MeTooSTEM shared on Twitter and Facebook, share them. Ask your friends to consider contributing to this site.

What will happen? I’m not sure. Maybe everything. Maybe nothing. Your stories will be shared on social media to personalize this moment and make it painful to look away from the women STEM has left behind. #MeTooSTEM

Why now: Because the National Academy of Sciences is about to publish a report on the toll of sexual harassment on women in STEM. You will never have enough money, power or security to come forward. I’m sorry for that. If you can safely answer a few questions, we want to show the people behind the numbers.

If you’re willing to help, please click on the link to access a form where you can share details of your story. You can also share your responses by emailing MeTooSTEM @ gmail.com. We hope to update with new featured stories daily.
